You pictures are very, very good! I loved seeing what pole volting is like. What a terrific sport. It sure seems to require a lot of coordination. Do you do it inside in the wintertime?
I have only seen pole vaulting on T.V., and have never met anyone that actually does it. I agree with Lela that it must take alot of coordination. How long did it take you to master this sport? How about the landing? That must have to be done just right as well.
Ashley, I am not a sports person but Pole Vaulting seems very interesting sports. I am sure you must be good at this sport. Also, I like the slide show that you have in your Blog.
I really liked your pole valting pictures. My sister was a gymist and had made it too idividuals in state (MN) but stranged a hambstring in the practice of the finals. So her teacher thought she would make a perfect pole valter. She sure was! During practice she cleared 9 feat and she is only four feet six inches tall. She liked using a pole that was too large for her because she was quick enough with her hands to climb up the pole while she valted herself in the air. It is a very neat sport and I love watching it.
Pole Vaulting is a sport that many people have never seen, or know little about. The objective of this event is to use a pole to clear a bar. To do this, the vaulter must have a lot of momentum, obtained by running. Next, the vaulter places one end of the pole in a pre-manufactured hole, called "the box." Bending the pole, the vaulter swings upside down so when the pole unbends, it will throw him up in the air. At this point, the vaulter clears the bar, or misses, and then falls to a large foam cushioning called pits. This is the basic part to the vault, and the vault should stay that way.
HEY, I really like vaulting. I started when i was 14 years old. i competed on my track team until my senior year. Now i am a coach cuz i cant get enough of it!
