Pole vaulting is an athletic event where a person uses a long, flexible pole (which today are usually made either of fiberglass or carbon fiber) as an aid to leap over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the ancient Greeks, as well as the Cretans and Celts. It has been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and since 2000 for women

Asked questions:
~ do you pole vault inside in the winter time? They do make indoor pole vault pits. However, they are very expensive and you need afacilities that can hold the pit and that is hard to find. So in the winter it is a good idea to work on your form. There are many drills that will befit your vaulting for the Track season that can be done inside.
~How long did it take me to master the sport? I started pole vaulting when i was in middle school. However, the more you do it the more you learn and there is always room for improvement. so i have not mastered the sport yet!
~How about the landing? That must have to be done just right as well. The landing is actually the last step to really learn in pole vaulting. the take off and jump are way more important. plus it is pretty hard to hurt yourself on your way down because the pit is huge.
This is my rushford peterson track team. we went undefeated my senior year and we won state. it was the first time any female sport at rushford peterson has won a state competition.
Pole Vaulting is a sport that many people have never seen, or know little about. The objective of this event is to use a pole to clear a bar. To do this, the vaulter must have a lot of momentum, obtained by running. Next, the vaulter places one end of the pole in a pre-manufactured hole, called "the box." Bending the pole, the vaulter swings upside down so when the pole unbends, it will throw him up in the air. At this point, the vaulter clears the bar, or misses, and then falls to a large foam cushioning called pits. This is the basic part to the vault, and the vault should stay that way.
HEY, I really like vaulting. I started when i was 14 years old. i competed on my track team until my senior year. Now i am a coach cuz i cant get enough of it!
